Charities

Brett supports a number of charities. These are the ones we know of:

Salvation Army: Brett's support for the Salvation Army was influenced by his grandfather.

Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA): After a friend committed suicide, Brett Lee became involved with this organisation to help youths in the same crisis.

Brett Lee is associated with charity auction site 'Youth Off The Streets' through his sponsor Gatorade whereby money is raised from auctioned memorabilia in order to provide a program for young people who have been excluded from the mainstream school system but want to acquire skills and an education.

Brett Lee is a Commonwealth Government Healthy Active Ambassador along with other top Australian athletes promoting a healthy diet and regular exercise to Australian kids through their work with schools, community groups, junior cricket associations and the media as part of the government's ongoing campaign to tackle obesity.

Through the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Brett took fourteen year old cancer patient Sarah Genuis to the Allan Border medal ceremony in 2004. In 2008 the Make-A-Wish Foundation named Brett Lee as an Official Friend where he will work with Make-A-Wish, meeting Wish Children, speaking on behalf of the charity, appearing at signature events (including the Melbourne and Sydney Wish Balls) and being involved in Wish Granting ceremonies.

Brett's band, Six and Out, also perform for charity.

Brett Lee, along with Tim Cahill, Michael Clarke and  founder Simon Taufel are involved with Childhood Champions formerly known as Childhood Heroes, an organisation which is focused on tackling illiteracy, childhood obesity among other issues. Childhood Heroes believe strongly in giving back to the community, therefore charitable donations are focused on  improving education and quality of life amongst children and society as a whole. The organisation also aims to increase children's education through relevant, inspirational learning. Improving the education of children today through inspirational learning, makes for both better people and society of tomorrow. All proceeds from Brett Lee's books go toward The McGrath Foundation.

Brett Lee has joined Deakin University to assist with the promotion of the Deakin India Research Institute (DIRI), which will develop research opportunities in India and Australia, for the benefit of people in both countries. He will also have a key role in shaping a new charitable fund that is part of the Institute. The fund will support working on projects such as setting up water filtration plans and creating better sanitation programs, which will make a difference to the lives of million of Indians.

Zaidee's Rainbow Foundation: Brett Lee, along with other members of the Australian cricket team, proudly sport rainbow shoelaces to raise national awareness about organ and tissue donation.

Brett Lee also supports the Cure For Life Foundation (CFLF) which isdevoted to saving lives of people suffering from brain tumours, through advances in research and education in neurosurgery.

Brett Lee is also the celebrity Ambassador of The Music Council of Australia which aims to provide every child with music education for every Australian child at school.

Children's Hope Foundation Limited: Brett Lee along with brother Shane, both contribute to this charity which is focussed on helping children overcome physical and intellectual disabilities.

Brett Lee along with Shane Lee, Tim Cahill and Michael Hussey, all contributed their personal recipes to a cookbook called 'Raising More Dough' which is aimed at raising funds to assist in research and developing national education programs for Cystic Fibrosis in Australia. Brett contributed his Apricot Chicken recipe.

Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney (Royal Rehab): Brett Lee is a supporter of this institution which is a highly specialised physical rehabilitation facility which provides rehab programs for adults with a range of disabilities. Brett was the first the trial the new Primary Club Gait Centre after it opened.
